Rebecca K. Rowe is a speculative fiction author and freelance writer living and working in Colorado. Her debut speculative fiction novel, Forbidden Cargo, has received critical acclaim from newspapers such as The Washington Post, the Rocky Mountain News and The Denver Post. Rowe also writes science poetry and short stories, inspired by her overseas travels and her more frequent armchair explorations at the keyboard. With a Master's in Mass Communications/Journalism from the University of Denver and a Master's in International Relations from the University of Southern California, her fiction reflects a hard social science dimension. She is the associate editor of the Speculative Literature Foundation newsletter, as well as a member of the National Space Society, the Mars Society and the Denver Woman's Press Club. Her first novel was a finalist in the Colorado Book Awards for 2007.
On the staff of the Speculative Literature Foundation that promotes literary quality in speculative fiction by encouraging promising new writers, assisting established writers, as well as facilitating the work of quality magazines and small presses in the genre.
Graduate of the Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop. Workshop instructors included Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Suzy McKee Charnas, Nancy Kress, Andy Duncan, Kelly Link, Gordon Van Gelder and Jeff Ford.
Proud supporter of the International Career Advancement Program that brings greater diversity to the staffing of senior management and policy-making positions in international public service, founded and directed by Dr. Rowe. The Associate Director is Emita Samuels.
Member of the Northern Colorado Writers' Workshop. The NCWW was founded in 1972 by two-time Nebula Award winner Ed Bryant, and is comprised of professional and near-professional authors who write mostly in the science fiction, fantasy, horror, thriller, or mystery genres.
